5 Major Radiological Services That Every Health Care Centre Has

When you visit any health centre for any kind of diagnosis, it must have a radiology department. The radiology department is used to see what is going on inside the human body. With the help of radiology, doctors get the chance to see if you have any signs of broken bones, tumours, or any internal bleeding.

With the help of the radiology department, humans have gained vast benefits. It becomes easier to treat illnesses at an early stage, such as cancer. Here we are going to discuss the top radiological services that every health care department has.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound services are the most common in any radiological department. They are also known as sonography. The reason it is called sonography is that it uses sound waves to capture a live image or video of the inside of your body.

It doesn’t have radiation, which is why it’s very safe. Doctors examine soft tissue and blood vessels in your body. A technician applies a gel in the targeted area. There is a device called a transducer, which is glided over the skin where gel is applied. It then displays the images live on the screen.

Ultrasound is commonly used to detect organ conditions, monitor blood flow, or monitor pregnant women.

Radiography (X-ray)

Suppose you have faced an accident which causes severe pain in your bones. At that moment, you need instant screening of bones to detect any sign of fracture. With the help of radiology, a doctor can analyse the X-ray report and see the condition of bones.

The technician uses radiation like X-rays and gamma rays. For more medical evaluation, it creates a static image of internal organs, tissues and bones. A radiologist also screens your teeth when a dentist recommends it before doing any dental procedure.

Computed Tomography (CT)

As we know, radiology shows us images of the bones, but with the help of a CT scan, you get 3D images of the inside of the body. CT scans help detect issues more internally and accurately.

It finds injuries that are deep, like skull fractures, or any deep internal bleeding inside the body after an accident.  Besides this, it also detects issues like blood clots, organ damage, and sees signs of any tumour at an early stage.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

MRI is a form of radiology that creates very clear images of the human body. X-rays have harmful radiation, but that is not the case with MRI. We can see major areas with X-rays and CT scans, but with MRI, blood vessels, organs, tendons, ligaments, or the brain are clearly visible.

If there is a case of brain damage from stroke, MRI detects it. MRI also detects spinal cord issues and spots tumours.

Fluoroscopy

X-rays are the images, while fluoroscopy allows you to record a live video. It is used to see a patient’s internal body organs and how they are working, which helps the doctor in giving the treatment according to the condition.
