For many pilgrims, an Umrah package is not simply a combination of flights, hotels and transportation. The journey also involves learning how to perform Umrah correctly, understanding the importance of the places being visited and having someone available when religious questions arise.
That is why scholar guidance can be one of the most important differences between two Umrah packages that look similar on paper.
Al-Ibrahim Travel’s December 2026 programs from Toronto have been designed around this idea. One package lists Dr. Munir El Kassem with Imam Abd Alfatah Tawakal, while another includes Dr. Munir El Kassem with Shaikh Mohammad Abdalaziz, Imam of ISNA.
What does a scholar add to an Umrah journey?
First-time pilgrims often prepare by reading books, watching videos and asking friends about Umrah. This preparation is useful, but performing the rites in Makkah can feel very different from learning about them at home.
Questions can arise about Ihram, Miqat, Tawaf, Sa’i, duas and the order in which different rites are performed.
Travelling with religious leaders means pilgrims have access to guidance within the group rather than having to search for answers while travelling.
Scholar-led ziyarah can also add context to visits in Madinah and Makkah. Places such as Masjid Quba, Mount Uhud, Masjid Qiblatain, Jabal al-Nour, Jabal Thawr and Arafat carry important Islamic history. A guided explanation can turn a sightseeing stop into a learning experience.
Why can two religious leaders be useful?
A group with two religious leaders provides another level of support.
Al-Ibrahim Travel’s December 2026 Umrah with ISNA Imam and Cairo tour lists both Dr. Munir El Kassem and Shaikh Mohammad Abdalaziz, Imam of ISNA.
This can appeal to pilgrims who want an organized journey in which spiritual learning is part of the itinerary rather than an optional extra.
The alternative December program lists Dr. Munir El Kassem together with Imam Abd Alfatah Tawakal.
The better choice depends on which group leadership, schedule and package terms suit the traveller.
What else should pilgrims compare?
Scholar guidance should not be the only consideration.
Pilgrims should also compare:
Both December programs are scheduled to depart Toronto on December 23, 2026 and return on January 2, 2027. Their published itinerary travels with EgyptAir through Cairo before continuing to Madinah.
The journey includes four nights in Madinah and four nights in Makkah.
What makes the Cairo stopover different?
Instead of spending the Cairo connection inside the airport, the published itinerary includes a guided Cairo Highlights Day Tour.
Sightseeing and lunch are included before the group returns to Cairo International Airport and continues to Madinah.
This gives travellers a cultural experience without turning the pilgrimage into a long multi-country vacation.
For someone already connecting through Egypt, that can make the travel day more meaningful.
